Update on the Drawkiln

The Society is pleased to report that the first phase for the temporary stabilization of the drawkiln was conducted on Dec.12, 2006 whereby loose masonry was dislodged from the top of the kiln structure. This procedure was then followed up cabling and banding around the drawkiln along with a temporary tarp over the flue of the kiln to minimize water penetration.

The Society will now meet with George Robb Associates in February 2007 to discuss further options for a more permanent stabilization of the drawkiln.

The Limehouse Kiln Society will also be launching a raffle in the very near future with the grand prize being the magnificent watercolour of the last remaining arch over Black Creek done by Georgetown artist, Gale Verhaegen. The winning tickets will be drawn at our Annual General Meeting in the fall.
