The
Limehouse Kiln Society is a group of Limehouse Citizens,Officials
of Municipal Government and Provincial Agencies as well as Representatives
of Local Business committed
to promoting and preserving the historical significance of the Lime
Kilns located in and near the Village of Limehouse, Ontario, Canada.
The
Society's goal is to preserve and interpret a significant and overlooked
aspect of Ontario's and Canada's settlement and industrial history
for the benefit of current and future residents and visitors to
Limehouse and the Municipality of Halton Hills.
Together with
the Town of Halton Hills, Credit Valley Conservation, the Niagara
Escarpment Commission and the Bruce Trail Association, the Society
hopes to provide a model project exemplifying best practices in
natural and cultural resource conservation and management.
This
site is designed to inform the Society's members, future members and
the public about the work of the Society, the history of the Limehouse
kilns, and the ongoing work in preserving them.
